Canada’s largest pipeline company just got even bigger. Early Tuesday morning, Enbridge announced its acquisition of Houston based Spectra Energy in an all-stock deal valued at $28 billion USD (C$37 billion). Each Spectra Energy share will be swapped out for 0.984 shares of the new joint company, which according to CNBC is equivalent to $40.33 per share, or an 11.5 percent premium of Spectra’s Friday closing price, prior to the holiday weekend.
